I’ve called Avon home since 2015, the year Brian and I said “I do” ourselves and decided to plant roots in this little pocket of Hendricks County. Our kids have grown up here, one’s in marching band at Avon High School and our twins still think the Friday night lights are the coolest thing on earth. We know the back roads, golden-hour sweet spots, and hidden corners of light in this town because it’s not just where we work, it’s where we live, love, and raise our family. So when you choose an Avon wedding venue, you’re not just hiring a photographer who “shoots here a lot.” You’re inviting someone who knows these spaces like her own backyard... because, honestly, they are.
Avon might be just 15 minutes west of Indianapolis, but it feels worlds away. We might be small, but our wedding venues punch way above their weight. From the secret-garden charm of Avon Gardens (tucked so privately you’d never spot it from Rockville Road) to the wide-open beauty of Washington Township Park and the modern-rustic elegance of Ash & Oak (formerly Avon Wedding Barn), these spaces give us everything: golden fields, mature trees, water features, and that perfect Midwestern light. And because I live five minutes from all of them, I’ve shot here in every season, every weather pattern, and every kind of love story. I know when the wildflowers peak at the park, when the maple trees at Ash & Oak explode into fire, and exactly where to stand at Avon Gardens so the pergola frames you like a painting.
Avon Gardens
Tucked behind a quiet residential street, Avon Gardens is the venue people drive past for years and never realize exists until they’re standing inside its gates, completely stunned. Seven acres of manicured gardens, a cascading waterfall, a white pergola draped in wisteria, and candles lighting the gardens that glow like a fairytale at night. Because I live five minutes away, I know exactly when the sun hits the waterfall just right (around 6:45 p.m. in June)
Washington Township Park
When couples want “outdoorsy but easy and on a budget,” they go to Washington Township Park on CR 900 E. This 160-acre park has everything: a rustic wooden pavilion that seats 200, a lakeside ceremony lawn with a permanent white pergola, and mature trees. I’ve photographed sunset portraits that look like they belong in a magazine.
Bonus: the park is literally five minutes from my house, and I go there even when I'm not photographing there. I know exactly when the wildflowers bloom along the trail (late May), when the fall color peaks (mid-October), and which angle of the pavilion gets the best backlight for ceremonies.
Ash + Oak (formerly Avon Wedding Barn)
When Avon Wedding Barn rebranded to Ash & Oak, it kept everything we loved, the big red barn, the indoor/outdoor flow, and elevated it with new bride and groom getting ready spaces with luxury finishes that feel current without losing that barn soul.
First looks on the front porch with the sun filtering through the trees? Yes please. Golden-hour portraits in the field behind the barn while the sky explodes? Every time. Night portraits under the courtyard string lights with a fire pit glowing? Frame-worthy.
Why Avon Venues Photographs Like a Dream
I also know the back roads to avoid weekend traffic on Rockville, the best coffee stops for your getting-ready morning (We love cabin coffee, obviously), and my kids go to school with your florist’s kids (if you hired who I think maybe you might have). This isn’t just where we work, it’s our community.
What It Means to Have a Truly Local Photographer
Your wedding day deserves someone who loves these venues as much as you do. Someone who gets butterflies every time the sun hits the Avon Gardens waterfall just right. Someone whose own love story started right here in Hendricks County.
I’ve photographed over 1,000 weddings, but the ones in Avon feel like home.
So if you’re saying “I do” beneath the pergola at Avon Gardens, under the big Indiana sky at Ash + Oak, or surrounded by fireflies at Washington Township Park, let’s make sure your photos feel exactly like this place does: warm, welcoming, and absolutely unforgettable.
Because in Avon, love doesn’t just happen. It comes home.
