During the couple’s portraits at The Sixpence, right after the wedding party and family formals and just before the reception doors opened, we stepped outside the barn for ten minutes of golden-hour magic. The iconic white barn wall with its black-framed windows became the perfect backdrop, and when I said, “Give me your best dramatic dip,” he didn’t hesitate. He swept her back, and they kissed as the entire world had paused just for them.
The Sixpence is built for portraits like this. That massive white barn wall faces west, catching the most beautiful rim light as the sun sets behind the fields. The clean lines and black accents create a timeless contrast that doesn't distract from the couple. The concrete steps added just enough height for the dip to feel cinematic.
As your wedding photographer, couple portraits are one of my favorite parts of the day. We always carve out 20–30 dedicated minutes to create images that feel like magazine covers. The property at The Sixpence gives us endless options: the white barn doors, the wildflower fields, the pond at sunset, or, like this, the classic front façade for that iconic “just married” shot.
At The Sixpence, couple portraits aren’t an afterthought. They’re the images you’ll look at most. The ones that make you remember exactly how it felt to marry your favorite person.
I’ll make sure we get the dip, the laugh, the quiet forehead kiss, and everything in between. Because this is your love story, and it deserves to look this good.
