The girls always take a bit longer than the guys do to get ready on the wedding day, it's almost always easier to put on a suit than it is to get into a wedding dress. That doesn't mean that we can't get photos that make the man of the hour look cool and masculine in the getting-ready photos. It doesn't take too much time generally for the men to get ready so we direct them to put on their pants, shirt, socks, and belt and we will photograph when it's time to put on the jacket, shoes, and tie.
This is another time when it's awesome to have two photographers on your wedding day. I am able to cover the bride prep without darting off to get the groom photos and the guys are generally more comfortable with a male photographer in the room.
