The Sixpence Wedding Days

The In-Between

Wedding Day at The Sixpence

This is one of those delicious “in-between” moments that make wedding days feel real, less like a photoshoot and more like you can enjoy the moment. Not the ceremony, not the first dance, not the posed portraits, just a pause on the patio at The Sixpence, with snow blanketing the Indiana countryside behind them, when I gave a simple prompt: “Act like you’re trying to keep each other warm.” What followed was unscripted magic: her head thrown back in laughter, his arms wrapped tight around her waist, her bouquet held like a shield against the cold, and both of them completely lost in each other while the rest of the day waited patiently inside the barn.

As your Sixpence wedding photographer, these are the images I chase all day long, the ones that happen between the big milestones, when no one is watching except me and my camera. The Sixpence’s wide patio and open fields give us endless room for these spontaneous portraits, and on winter days like this one, the soft overcast light and muted landscape create an almost ethereal scene. The snow reflects light gently onto their faces, her white gown blends with the horizon, and his black tux provides the perfect contrast that draws the eye straight to their connection.

One gentle prompt was all it took; sometimes, the best photos come from the simplest directions. The result is a frame that feels candid even though it started with a nudge, a moment that captures exactly how it felt to be newly married on a cold, quiet afternoon with the whole world blanketed in white. Winter weddings at The Sixpence are spectacular.

At The Sixpence, the big moments are beautiful. But the in-between ones, the laughs, the squeezes, the quiet warmth against the cold, are the ones you’ll look at most.

I’ll be watching for them and making sure they are documented for you to remember.
