This isn’t just a portrait, it’s a love story told twice. Captured in the hidden alleyway outside Vision Loft at the historic Stutz Building, this moment freezes the newlyweds in a kiss that’s reflected perfectly in the venue’s massive industrial garage door windows. Her happiness radiates in both versions of herself, his gentle cheek kiss is doubled, and the soft golden light of late afternoon wraps them in warmth while the brick walls and potted greenery add just the right touch of urban romance. This is what happens when a simple alley becomes art and why I’m obsessed with finding reflections for every couple I photograph.
As your Indianapolis wedding photographer, I’m always hunting for those unexpected, creative moments that turn ordinary spaces into extraordinary memories. The alleyway behind Vision Loft is one of my absolute favorite secrets. The reflection gives you two versions of the same moment: you, laughing in each other’s arms, and the mirrored you, suspended in glass like a promise that your love will always have another angle, another layer, another reason to smile. In this image, the bride’s strapless gown and peach-and-cream bouquet pop against the dark frames, while the groom’s charcoal suit and white rose boutonnière keep everything balanced and timeless.
I love using reflections because they tell a deeper story. It’s not just “here’s the couple,” it’s “here’s the couple, and here’s how endless their love feels.” It’s a subtle symbol of partnership: two versions of the same moment, perfectly in sync. And at Vision Loft, with its clean lines and abundant natural light bouncing off the glass, these shots are always flawless.
How We Make Alleyway Magic Happen
We sneak away for just about 10 minutes, usually right after family formals, while guests are enjoying cocktail hour inside. The alley is private, quiet, and just steps from the venue doors, so you’re never far from the party. I’ll guide you with gentle prompts: “Lean in for a kiss… now look at your reflection and laugh at how cute you two are.” The result? Images that feel candid and artistic all at once.
