Bride and Groom First Dance Captured in Black and White

The Sycamore at Mallow Run Wedding

The couple from this November wedding danced their first dance as husband and wife to the song Lucky by Jason Maraz. The bride leans into her groom, the wedding ring on her left hand visible to the crowd as her hand rests on his chest, her right arm draped around his neck, he pulls her close. The couple's eyes are closed. They are so lost in each other they don't seem to notice the room full of their closest friends and family.

The first dance traditionally kicks off the dancing portion of the reception and takes place after the guests have been served a meal. During some first dances the couple is like this, pulled in close, lost in each other however the first dance is unique to each inidvidual wedding. Sometimes the couple puts their hands on each other, rocks side to side and talks and laughs throughout the song. Sometimes the couple learns a dance like the tango, or the rumba, or swing. Sometimes they coreograph something totally different, just for them.

Pro tip: Tell your photographer what your plan is for your first dance so that we can be in the best possible position to capture that moment for you. I always ask my couples in the pre-wedding timeline questionaire.
